Middle Tennessee Television (MTTV), the on-campus student-run television station at Middle Tennessee State University, was selected as the best college television station in Tennessee and third overall in the southeast. This is the first time MTTV has been recognized by the SEJC for this honor. The announcement was made Friday at SEJC's annual conference which was held at Belmont University.
Southeastern Louisiana won the overall award for best college television station while the University of Troy came in second place.
Judging was based on two newscasts that aired between November 15, 2007 and November 14, 2008. During this time period, Tiffany Sawyer, a recent graduate, and Kipp Lawton, a sophomore, served as news director for the television station. Sawyer is currently an associate producer at Nashville station WSMV - Channel 4.
MTTV News airs Monday through Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Outside of their newscasts, MTTV airs student-produced entertainment programs and MTSU athletics.
